Seagate Backup Plus External SSD Review

And Seagate has done it again. The Backup Plus Slim is yet another fantastic collaboration between Seagate and the technology powerhouse Western Digital Corp (WD).

The Drive is well designed, aesthetically pleasing, portable, reliable, fast and affordable. It’s also available in four different colors; black, blue, red and silver making it easy to choose a drive that suits your style.

However there are better choices out there if you want to upgrade for performance or reliability or even space but this review will cover its strengths not weaknesses. For the Backup Plus Slim does what it says on the tin very well indeed with only one flaw which we’ll get too later on in the article.

Features:

The Seagate Dashboard backup software is included on the drive and it’s also available for download online if you don’t want to use this option. It works really well so you won’t need any third party options but there are some weaker points. If you want to sync files between drives or platforms then the only way is to connect one

The Seagate Backup Plus Slim Portable 1TB is available in the color of your choice, has a 5400rpm spindle speed, it’s comfortable to use and can be very stylish too if that’s important to you. The transfer speeds are good but could be better.

It’s a great product for those who are constantly on the go and need something easy to transfer files from one device to another without having to be too technical or complicated.

The Backup Plus Slim is not only easy to use but it’s also stylish and comes in a range of capacities which all work at a fast speed, making them a viable option when looking for an external hard drive.

However, while the design is modern and attractive, it does have its flaws especially if you plan on using it as a stand since there’s some give allowing it fall over easily if knocked off balance by accident.

Also, there is no AC adapter included in the box meaning that you’re going to have to get one yourself or charge from your PC/laptop which will have a USB 3.0 port to begin with or use an adapter if you don’t have one available already.

To conclude:

The Seagate Backup Plus Slim is a great product and one that we would recommend but it does have its flaws potentially giving the user some headaches depending on how you plan on using it. If you can look past those then this external hard drive should last for years to come as long as you take care of it properly.
